If you see cgi-bin, the “bin” refers to binary from a time long ago when most programs were referred to as binary. Now cgi-bin refers to the location in the server where cgi scripts are stored.

Now, let’s go back to the hosting service. When you surf the net and “go” to a particular site, you are not actually going to that site. The hosting company’s server (in this case your ISP) receives your request, searches the web, finds your requested site, and downloads it to your computer. So you see, you don’t go to a site, the site comes to you, courtesy of a server.

1.Count the number of pages in your web site and add a buffer for future expansion.
2.Determine the average number of characters per page – not the number of words. The number of characters includes everything, letters, spaces, and, punctuation. Most word processing programs such as MS Word will count the number of characters for you. 
3.Multiply the average number of characters times the number of pages in step 1.
4.Now: one character = 1 Byte, and 8 Bytes = 1 bit, so divide the total number of characters determined in step 3 by 8. This gives you the total number of bits.
5.1000 bits = 1 KB; 1000 KB = 1 MB, and 1000 MB = 1 GB. Note: For the technical minded 1 GB actually equals 1024 MB, but there is really no necessity to get that picky in this case.
6.Divide the total number of bits by 1,000,000 and your answer will be the number of MB of disk space you need to rent from the hosting service.

Determining the amount of transfer space you will require is largely an approximation based on the number of visitors you expect per day. Most of the better hosting services provide you with about 3 GB, which is ample for the average web site. If you expect more than a thousand visitors a day, you will, of course, need more transfer space.

The newly formed Retail Gift Card Association should address the issue of retailer bankruptcy and what happens to outstanding gift cards. 
 Following the generally bad press that gift cards received during the holiday season of 2008, a number of retailers have come together to form the Retail Gift Card Association (RGCA), with the aim of building a positive image of closed-loop gift cards. Members of the Association include Best Buy, Subway, Wal-Mart Stores, Home Depot, Kohl’s, Limited Brands, Nike, Applebee’s and Marriott International. This is a good development and consumers will be the ultimate beneficiaries. 
However, for this to work, the association must address the reasons underlying the bad publicity they got from the media, legislators and consumer groups. One of the main issues has to do with bankruptcy. As the economy gets worse, more retailers are going bankrupt and there is no uniform standard regarding what happens to outstanding gift cards when a retailer goes bankrupt (whether it is Chapter 7 or 11 bankruptcy).
For example, when the Sharper image went bankrupt in 2008, they initially refused to honor gift cards. After pressure from consumer groups and some state Attorney Generals, the company relented, but only allowed customers to redeem part of their gift cards. Similarly, when the Bombay Company went bankrupt in late 2007, they refused to honor gift cards. Gift card holders had to file a claim with the bankruptcy court and were only able to get 25 cents on the dollar. 
Furthermore, when electronics retailer Tweeter went bankrupt in late 2008, the company announced they were only going to redeem outstanding gift cards for only 5 days. It was only after Attorney Generals from a few states, including Maryland and Connecticut stepped in did the company extend the gift card redemption period to run until their liquidation sale was complete. 
It is true that many of the major retailers that have gone bankrupt recently have redeemed gift cards, like Circuit City, Linens ‘N Things and Mervyn’s. But without uniform guidelines or standards, examples like the Sharper Image and Tweeter will continue to reflect badly on gift cards in general, thereby hurting all retailers. While consumers have the option of filing a claim with the bankruptcy court should a bankrupt retailer refuse to honor gift cards, that option is not viable since gift card holders are unsecured creditors and would therefore be at the bottom of the pecking order. 
Therefore the best thing the association can do is to encourage their members to offer some kind of bankruptcy guarantee where consumers will be assured that they will be able to redeem their gift cards should the card issuer go bankrupt. That will not only generate good publicity but will also boast gift card sales, thereby benefiting the retail industry as a whole.

One of the simplest ways to announce your pregnancy is by e card. Hundreds of websites offer free e cards or some you can pay for. 

Buy them a gift 

Go to any store that sells small baby items. A dollar store is a good choice if you want to keep it low budget. Buy items like baby bibs, bottles, rattles, pacifiers, baby shoes, etc. Also you will need to buy small boxes for the items to fit in and gift wrapping paper. When you have time alone, place each item individually into a box and wrap them. Place a tag on each box for the person who will be receiving it. Another great idea (if you are able to find them) is give out father’s day and grandparent’s day cards. If you have a hard time finding these cards because stores only sell them around the holidays they are intended for, try looking on the internet. 

Word Search 

This can be time consuming, especially if you have a lot of people to tell, but it is adorable. You will need a computer, printer and some type of software you can type on. On your computer type out various letters in no particular order in 10 columns across the screen and 10 columns down. When you finish you should have 100 letters in the form of a box (just like word search in a newspaper). Somewhere in the jumble of letters (wherever you decide) take out enough of the letters to put “We’re Pregnant” or “We’re having a baby”.

Another cute idea is to buy baby t shirts for your family. The t shirts should reflect who will be receiving them.
